Two Nuclear Powers India and Pakistan are at the edge of war nowadays, as after Palwama suicide attack in which over 40 Indian paramilitary personnel died, India had launched air strike in Balakot region of Pakistan and claimed that he had killed about 350 terrorists of JeM in attack. In Response PAF Pakistan Air force shot down Indian two Mig-21 fighter Aircraft in a dogfight and arrested one of the pilots. LOC (Line of Control) is witnessing cease fire violations from both sides.
Indo-Pak conflict over Kashmir is not a new thing to the world, both countries had confronted each other in battle field for three times in just last 70 years. To understand the basics of the conflict we need to go back in history.
In the times of Hinduism and Shaivism Kashmir were considered as the land of Gods, The locals of Kashmir Valley brought the teachings of Buddha far beyond Hindukush mountains in the China. Saints, mystics and clerics of different religions used to live in the Godly valleys of Jammu & Kashmir. Till 13th century Kashmir wasn't glorified by the holy spirit of Islam.
In the mid of 14th century a Muslim king named as Shah Mir conquered Valleys of Jammu & Kashmir and inaugurated ShahMir Dynasty. It's has changed the ideological image of the valley, Islam flourished with all its glory in the era of ShahMir Dynasty until invaded by Khalsa (Sikh) empire in 18th century. Later on Kashmir had undergone British rule and British sold it to "Dogra Nawabs".
That's the turning point which made paradise of Kashmir a "Living Hell". Till partition of 1947 Kashmir with 87% Muslim population were ruled by a Sikh Raja Ranbir Singh. At the times of partition Raja Ranbir Singh opted to be part of India against the will of locals who wanted to join newly established Muslim State of Pakistan. In 1948, Pakistan launched war against Ranbir Singh's army while on the other hand India entered its troops in valley for the help of Ranbir Singh. On the intervention of UN (United Nations) both sides ceased fire but Pakistan managed to took control of 37% of the land. United Nations passed the resolution for (right of self determination of Kashmiri people ) with the consent of both the countries and asked both sides to eject their armies from the valley as soon as possible but unfortunately that never happened till today.
Both countries had fought three wars and number of limited confrontations over Kashmir conflict but didn't get any meaningful outcome. This issue has caused several problems between both countries like trade bans, ban on entertainment industries, rejected to play cricket with each other and worst of it is both countries blame each other for terrorism at their sides. Kashmir has core importance in the foreign policy of both countries. Politicians of both sides promise their people before elections to resolve Kashmir conflict at any cost after coming into power but still it has never happened.
Another element which has boosted tension between two nuclear powers is "Contemporary Media". For the game of TRP (Television Rating Point) TV anchors and experts while sitting in a studio create extreme hype over even avoidable matters, which motivates people to ask government to take aggressive actions against each other. Here comes "Social Media" where so-called analysts and celebrities from different fields add fuel to the fire by their words and visuals.
Both the countries are facing poverty, bad governance and economic crisis. Being civilized nations both countries need to act accordingly in a mature manner, both are nuclearly armed so even little confrontation can lead world to the massive destruction.
